Cooperative study program in Civil Engineering with orientation semester (BIOS) - "Role Models" provided guidance

In the student mentoring program, graduates of RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University talked to first-semester students of the BIOS program about their professional lives.

On April 21, 2022, three graduates of RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University reported on their career paths in an online event as part of the "Role Model" session of student mentoring in the cooperative study program Civil Engineering with Orientation Semester (BIOS). They gave the BIOS first-semester students valuable tips on studying and working life and pointed out possible career paths in companies, science and research.

After graduation, would you rather go straight to the construction site or to a large consulting firm? Or maybe even a doctorate? What will I get out of a semester abroad? What will I earn later? What does my everyday working life really look like after studying Civil Engineering? What career paths are possible? The first-semester students of the BIOS program asked these and other questions of the three role models Corinna Lenz (research associate at Aachen University of Applied Sciences), Fritjof Lukossek (construction manager at HOCHTIEF) and FB3 graduate Michaela Eigner (senior associate at PwC).

In a relaxed atmosphere, the Role Models discussed with the students the challenges they faced during their studies, the best and most spectacular projects, and the soft skills they needed for their careers. At the end of the event, the participants not only gave positive feedback but also gained an important personal insight: "I now know that I also have to work on my soft skills for my dream job!“
