At the opening festival "Recreation area Mühlenteich", the two newly built carbon concrete bridges were inaugurated on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

The two new bridge structures, which are designed for pedestrians, cyclists and maintenance vehicles (max. weight 3.5 t), were manufactured entirely as precast elements and assembled on site. The superstructure slabs are not reinforced with steel as usual, but receive their load-bearing capacity from a textile reinforcement made of carbon fibers impregnated with epoxy resin (fiber composite plastic reinforcement).

The two bridges were built by CORNELISSEN + PARTNER Consulting Engineers. The IMB (Chair and Institute for Structural Concrete) of the RWTH prepared the expert opinion on behalf of the municipality of Kreuzau to obtain the approval in individual cases with project-related type approval.
