With more than 25 chairs and associated institutes and more than 4000 students the Faculty of Civil Engineering represents traditional and innovative engineering at RWTH Aachen.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering offers many Bachelor and Master courses of study. The main language of instruction is German. However, the following study programs are offered entirely in English:

Advanced Computational Methods in Civil Engineering (specialization in Civil Engineering M.Sc.)

Railway Systems Engineering (Specialization in Transport Engineering and Mobility M.Sc.)Sustainable Management - Water and Energy M.Sc.

Please use RWTHonline for an overview on the study programs offered by RWTH Aachen University. Please refer to the central International Office's Websites for a complete overview of all English taught lectures at RWTH Aachen University.

Incomings may also choose courses from other faculties. However, at least half of the Credit Points should correspond to courses of our faculty. Exceptions can be discussed with our team. If you are interested in courses of other faculties, you must obtain permission by the respective faculty coordinator, even if you already have a signed Learning Agreement at hand at the time of your arrival. An overview of the contact details of other common faculties will be provided to you per email at the beginning of your exchange. If you are interested in courses from the Faculty of Business and Economics, please note that there is a separate platform for the course registration, for which you should register at least 2 weeks before the start of the semester.

Exams

Exam registration is done via RWTHonline and the online platform of the faculty. It is imperative to register on this online platform as it generates your Transcript of Records. Most of our courses end with a written examination. To find out about the type of examination and the examination date please visit RWTHonline.

If you are participating on language courses, Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis and research projects, you can also register them in the online platform so they are included in your transcript of records. You will be able to register and de-register exams until a few days before the examination date. The deadline for registration and de-registration will be shown for each course in RWTHonline.

Projects, Final Papers, and Dissertations

You can find calls for Bachelor, Master, and Diplom theses and dissertations on the Faculty of Civil Engineering's institutes' websites. You can also find offers for disserations in the RWTH job database. If you want to work on your own topic, you will need confirmation of supervision.

Advising Services in the Faculty of Civil Engineering

The Faculty of Civil Engineering has a number of advising services for students and prospective students. These services are of course also open to you as an international student in the faculty or if you would like information about studies at the faculty before your stay.
