Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG (KVB) is one of the largest public transport companies in Germany. Last year, more than 282 million people travelled with the company's buses and trains - and the trend is rising. Almost 313,000 passengers are now regular customers of KVB. For the mobility of people in the city and the region, transport services are therefore indispensable. KVB operates twelve light rail lines and around 60 bus lines. Since May 2015, the company has also been offering a bicycle rental system with great success. In 2018 alone, around 1.2 million bicycle rentals were registered.
KVB with its almost 3,600 employees sees itself as an environmentally friendly mobility service provider, which is why it also cooperates with the Cologne CarSharing companies: Regular KVB customers receive discounts from the providers in order to make it easier for them to switch from their own car. And the company is focusing on new, environmentally friendly technologies: a complete line has already been converted to electric buses since the end of 2016, a further six lines are to follow by 2021. Over the next few years, KVB also plans to work with the city to continuously expand its light rail network in order to meet people's growing needs and make its contribution to a traffic turnaround.
