Prof. Hegger awarded with Emil Mörsch Memorial Coin© DBV
On March 18, 2021, Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Josef Hegger of the Institute of Structural Concrete was awarded the Emil Mörsch Memorial Coin during the German Civil Engineering Day.
It is considered the highest award of the DBV (Deutscher Beton- und Bautechnik-Verein E.V.) and honors personalities who have distinguished themselves through special achievements in the field of concrete construction and have promoted this field.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Hegger expressed three wishes for resource-efficient construction with concrete:
- Low-CO2-concretes for automated production.
- More willingness and acceptance for radical innovations in the construction industry and also in society and public administration
- Professionalization of standards
In connection with these wishes, he appealed to the participants of the Construction Technology Day: "Get it done, it is high time. It's good for the construction industry and even better for the environment."
The certificate itself describes Professor Hegger as an innovative researcher, dedicated teacher and successful promoter of young professionals who has made great and lasting contributions to the construction industry.
"Through his wide-ranging research and his work, he has, in the tradition of Emil Mörsch, enhanced the reputation of civil engineering in professional circles and society far beyond Germany's borders."
