The German Concrete and Civil Engineering Association E.V. (DBV) awarded the Rüsch Research Prize to Dr.- Ing. Michael Horstmann on April 11. The award ceremony took place during the opening event of the German Civil Engineering Day in Hamburg. Dr. Horstmann received the 5,000 euro prize for his dissertation "On the load-bearing behavior of sandwich structures made of textile-reinforced concrete", which he wrote at the Institute of Solid Construction (IMB) of our faculty and in which he described the load-bearing behavior of the components textile-reinforced concrete, point- and line-shaped composite materials and different insulating cores as well as the sandwich cross-sections composed of these. In the opinion of the jury, the work "addressed an innovative topic, analyzed the existing problems in a scientifically outstanding manner, conducted extensive tests and evaluated them at great expense in order to formulate practical solutions." Every two years, the DBV awards the Rüsch Research Prize to a "particularly outstanding scientific paper".
