Our Profile

The Institute of Highway Engineering Aachen stands for a sustainable and digital transport infrastructure. As a research institution, we therefore focus on the development and use of modern technologies and processes. Accordingly, one of the institute's current focuses is on the use of machine learning algorithms and computer vision methods for the digitalization of traffic and infrastructure. For the digitization research group at the institute, we are looking for creative, independent students who will help to shape the future of research in this field within the framework of exciting projects:

Your Profile

  • You are studying at a university or university of applied sciences in the field of computer science, electrical engineering or a closely related course of study
  • 3rd semester Bachelor or higher
  • Knowledge of programming with Python and/or C++
  • Knowledge in the area of Machine Learning is advantageous
  • Independent and reliable way of working
  • Good knowledge of German and English
  • Intended minimum duration of the engagement: 2 years

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Programming support for the scientific staff in research projects
  • Independent processing of partial aspects of the upcoming programming tasks
  • Support of technical measurement set-ups on motorways (cameras, control, computers)

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of initially 3 months.
The option to extend the contract is available and desirable.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8-12 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
