Examination Board Structure and Responsibilities

The Faculty of Civil Engineering puts together examination boards to organize exams and fulfill the responsibilities listed in the exam regulations. In general, the examination board is made up of a chair, the deputy chair, and five other voting members. The chair, the deputy chair, and two other members are selected from among the group of professors, one member is from the non-academic staff, two members are from the students. Deputies are selected for the examination board members. The period of office for members from the group of professors and academic staff is two years. The period of office for the student members is one year. Re-election is permitted.

The examination board is an agency with the right to conduct administrative processes.

The examination board makes sure that the conditions of the exam regulation are adhered to and that exams are conducted as determined the regulations. It is particularly responsible for decisions about contradictions against decisions within the examination process. Furthermore, it also regularly reports at least one year to the faculty about the development of exams and study periods. It provides suggestions for changing the examination regulation and curriculum and discloses grades and average grades. The chair of the board can perform all of the board's regular responsibilities. This does not apply to contradictions and the report for the faculty.

The examination board has quorum when two voting professors or their deputies and and at least voting members or their deputies are present in addition to the chair or his or her deputy. Decisions are made with a majority rule. In the case of a voting tie, the chair has the deciding vote. Student members of the examination board are not involved in the calculation of study and exam credit points.

Members of the examination board have the right to present during an exam.

Examination board meetings are not open to the public. Members of the examination board and the deputies are sworn to official secrecy. If they are not employed in public service, the chair of the examination board is responsible for making sure they are sworn to secrecy.

The examination board may call up the Central Examination Office, ZPA, to ask for support in fufilling its administrative responsibilities.
